Site Map
Hi all,
I have created a site map page which will only be viewed by search engines and not indexed. I was told that a blank link such as on the home page would allow the spiders to follow it. Has anyone any experience of this? Do the the robots actually follow links like this? Or does there need to be content in the tag? Cheers. |

There needs to be content. or at least to be ion the safe side there needs to be content. Some Ses might follow the links others won't. Why make a site map just for search engines? They have a purpose and use for users as well surely. A transparent gif however (10x10 pixels) should suffice if you wish it to remain unseen by humans.

I have sessions set up on the rest of the site so there needs to be a page which has session free links for the SEs but not for users.
I think your probably right, I'll just put a transparent gif in there to be on the safe side. Just wondering if anyone knew for definate. |

Sorry for sounding silly here but what reason would you have for not wanting a site map indexed? I thought it would be another page on your site and another way in for users?
