SEO Opinion
Our site used to be number one under "refinance loan", but just a couple of days ago this other site jumped ahead of us to number one. I cant figure out why this site is ranking higher than us. Also they used to rank somewhere around 20 under the term "refinance" now they are number one!! I dont get why they are number one. If anyone can see something that I dont please let me know.

Easy..... they got a ton of new links hitting their site... happens all of the time. You can do it to people too if you are willing to spend some time building firepower.

EGOL, they only have 11 sites linking to them. I think you are refering to the sight that is number one for refinance, not refinance loan,but they only have 19 sites linking to them. They are two different sites. My url is www.a-refinance-loan.com.

Would be your competitor than. If you use MarketLeap's tool, you can find that they have 348 existing links on search engines, while you have 248 links.

...or their anchor text is better. 50 links with "refinance loan" is better than 500 links with "www.mybrandeddomain.com". Also, a link with "www.a-refinance-loan.com" adds additional weight as fullstop/dot (".") and "-" are counted as spaces, so that link is effectively "www a refinance loan com". That is one reason for keywords sepeerated by hyphens in a URL. The disadvantage are, of course, that it is harder to remember, and is never likley to be a strong "brand". Still, it does have a solid "upside".

Your competitor is bad-credit-refinance-loans.com, and they've been getting a bunch of new links.

That's what you should be doing.
