SEO Help

Friends,

There is a website for which I am doing SEO and there are only 10 keywords that are targeted. Currently all the keywords are ranked in top 20 in major search engines. Can you please suggest how can I get the keywords to be ranked in the top 10? Currently we are undertaking article submission and link building. I am new to SEO and would appreciate help from experts in this matter.

I guess you are not targeting one page for 10 keywords, definitely 10 keywords are in a total for all the pages.

On Page Factors:
1. Title Tag and Heading Tag: Optimize these two tags properly.Don't try to stuff keywords in these, just make these as relevant and appropriate as possible with the theme of the site.

2. Content: Try to implement relevant, unique and quality content in the pages. This will help you to get some backlinks which will be helpful for ranking.

3. Canonical Issues: If your site have canonical issue solve it through 301 redirection

Off Page Factors:

Link Building - Try to get In bound links from relevant and quality sites.Use your targeted keywords or key phrase as anchor text.
If you want your internal pages also to rank then try to get links for those individual pages also.

Thanks for prompt reply

Thanks for the prompt reply

As you already said right the ten keywords are the keywords that we have targeted for the entire site and not a single page. I have taken up a link building campaign from some third party and have been getting link reports from them. The name of the site is for a company called percept holdings can u please suggest some changes if any or your views on what should be done further to enhance my ranking.

Thanks for that wonderful piece of advise. What I want to ask u is I have decent content on my site and I am working on inbound linking. My meta tags are also good. I wanted to now know that after how much time do I need to change the content. Is there any time frame wherein I have to change the content to get my rankings and does this work for meta tags also. I mean if I change the meta tags how much effect will it have on the rankings.

Secondly my question to all of you is that I have a problem getting one way link. I have heard that one way links are very effective. How do I get them without spending much. I write content by myself any effective tips for writing the content so that my site gets ranked in SE's

read this thread on link building http://forums.seochat.com/link-popularity-43/link-building-101t-124545.html

You do not need to change conetent unless you have a site that requires changed content.

Adding quality content to you site is a very good idea. try to keep it theemed.

By title you mean <title> site title </title> than there is no need to ever change it really. Unless you come up with a better one.

I really think you would benefit from reading some of the basics about seo first.

If you are aggressively building good links, there is no reason you can't acquire enough to achieve your objectives in 90 days working every day - based upon the present position of the site.

This is a very general statement. When you hit the top ten, you are now playing with the big boys in your market. This is provided you did your home work when identifying and selecting your primary target search terms.

Otherwise, you've targeted the wrong terms, which means less competition because no-one is targeting them. (This could explain why you are already in the top 20 and why I mention this)

Given the risk, you may want to hire someone to do the keyword research for you just to ensure you've not targeted the wrong ones. In addition, you will most likely get an expanded list of terms you should look at. An experienced second opinion, imho, is well worth the nomiinal investment you'd have to make.

It would certainly suck butt to rank for the wrong terms. I'm sure there are plenty here who can make some recommendations.
