SEO for my site. What would it cost ?

Im looking to optimize my Meta tags and generally anything that can improve my listings at Google, Yahoo etc.

Im just not sure where to look for a qualified person to do this?
And seeing that I have no really experience with the SEO business, what price range can I expect to be charged roughly?

Depends on the size of your site, what industry your in (meaning amount of competition), the amount of work that needs to be done, if it's just consulting, and what results you are looking for.

It can be quite expensive because getting a good rank can take months. But if you find an SEO that will monitor and make adjustments during those months than it's money well spent.

Also a word of advice: If any SEO can guarentee you a certain result than turn and run away as fast as possible. SEO can guarentee improvement but not anything like "Top 5 guarenteed" BS

Thanks for the advice ..

Im not really looking for someone to monitor my site and make adjustments over a longer period, merely someone who I can consult, to get good advice on how to improve/optimize my current meta tags and other options which could lead to a better improvement.

A consultant ranges anywhere from a few hundred bucks to acouple thousand depending on the size of the site and the amount of information and detail you are looking for. There are a few SEO on this board that would be more than happy to help you out.

Look for a SEO that will take the time to help yu understand, and like he said watch and make the necessary changes over time to help your site achieve your goals. One thing though, again like he said- if your guranteed Top 5 rankings, get away quick. Noone wants to rank #1 in "cold snowballs that melt on an Amazon tree-top."

Most "Ranking guarenteed" is BS. Top positioning is doable with right amount of money and time.

SEO and building for my sites costs me about 20% of my time - contiuously researching for new traffic, optimizing, reoptimizing, putting up pages for new opportunities, responding to competitors, building and redirecting linkage relationships.

SEO is not a one time cost. If you do not play offense any good rankings that you attain will most likely fail over time - especially if you are in a competitive environment.

When I first started my site I read about monthly fees for SEO services and was surprised at what some sites pay. However, now, I understand why and the benefits of always having someone working to build your position.

I like competition and the task of SEO is something that I am almost doing for sport.
