    Search volumes

    Hi

I need to look into the search volumes over the last year for a few related keywords. Is the best free tool to use to determine monthly search volume for a specified keyword Google Keyword Planner? Or if not the best, is this tool at least appropriate to use this way if I look only at the search volume figures?

I can also access bright edge but I don't believe I can look back at search volumes over time using this? Or would one month of bright edge data be more accurate?

    Sorry for such beginner questions...

    Thanks

There is no keyword tool that shows you actual search volume for the particular keyword and all are shows approx value. I use Google Keyword Planner and it is pretty good for me.

Brilliant, thank you everyone! Yes I know it's estimated but I wanted to check there wasn't another reason I wasn't aware of as to why I shouldn't use Google Keyword Planner in this way. Thanks for the reassurance!

Thought Google Adword Tool is the best for keyword research but sometimes it doesn't show the accurate keyword for our website. You can check the google webmaster, if you have linked it to your website. Go to the search analytic and there you will find the Clicks and Impression report of your website. There you can get idea that which keyword is user searching and what pages are ranking in search engine. You can keep the keywords according to that data also.

    Hi

Thanks for your reply. In this case I'm looking for information on search volumes generally (to gauge potential interest in product types) rather than keywords generating traffic specifically to our website. However, this is still good to know, so thank you!
