Future of Search Engines Roundtable - keynote
ask jeeves Yahoo Aol all seem to agree that personalization is the fuure of search Aol and Yahoo seem to be making it their biggest priority of the time being Yahoo introduces advanced Submission features that are free for non profits but paid for inclusion for commecial firms Aol while still confirming to use Google for Organic SERPs did indicate that a more expansive personalization is imminent based on the tendencies of the surfer from data collected - the SERPs will be more tailor made They do a "bandwidth" sniff to decide if the Broadband or dial-up version of the page will appear MSN was invited to the roundtable - but declined. Google seem to compare the next generation of search to an intimate friend - who will be able to decide what terms mean to you based on their knowledge of your personality The danger of TOO much personalizing - being a stanglehold was expressed! An evening with Danny Sullivan - basically focused on whether or not Yahoo will in fact drop the pay for inclusion sites that no - longer pay It seems Yahoo promised NOT to do so - but was not believed by the atendees. Reciprocal link strategies was the other big topic It seems that the juryis still out on what is Spam links and what are helpful links ![]() |
