Is SEO a waste of time?

We work hard to SEO our sites just to have our affiliate links switched by someone elses.

Does anyone know how to prevent having your affiliate link swapped out by a parasite? I have heard that using some code in each link will prevent the parasites affiliate link from being switched. Does anyone know about this?

    Gail,

Really good question actually, and deserves more time than I have now to devote to it. There are several options that can assist in ridding parasites of getting hold of your hard earned money. Two I can think of are: Javascript and Redirects.

I prefer redirects on my sites, because it almost impossible for some programs to pick up on the nature of the linking.

    Some like: yoursite.com/redirect/clicks.pl?http://affiliatelink.com

Javascript is also benefical, but I am not too sure about what the best scripts are to use for your purposes.

Try to do a search in Google for "redirect scripts". Or if you want I can send you one that I use.

Yes Ben, I would love to have a copy of the script you use.

Also, does the redirects bother any of the search engines? And, I am assuming that the script is put on every link going to the affiliate, right.

Yes use a script even one that looks like

http://www.site.com/site.php?=112 work very well. Get some @ hotscripts.com. The Javascript one might hide the affiliate link from Google though and hopefully wont trigger the Florida update.
