Red face

Great Points on this thread. I graduated with a marketing degree and the sad thing is, that I have only been graduated for a year and a half and marketing techniques have changed drastically. Of course they will always be changing.

I am very new to SEO but not starting lucrative businesses or careers. With this being said, I am in a VERY old fashioned market in the service career I am in...when you are in this kind of market you can capitalize the most from it. Where I live, small business owners have no idea what SEO is. When you explain it to them, they want to be the "first" to get it.

All that to say, NICHE NICHE NICHE! Even though I stumbled across my town, I am only capitalizing because of the technology I know compared to the other 15,000 residents.

I write this post merely as a reminder, as I am sure you all know this principle. Doesn't hurt to freshen up every once in a while.

When I read your 22 points I realized that you have mentioned all the viral marketing option but when I read above the post from that time I started my brain storm.

Yes, I think you are right, I used to do this thing and used to answers atleat 20 questions a day by indirectly getting them to my websites. I have seen the stats after 10 days and yeah..it really increases traffic.
But I think it should be done in ethical and proper manner, you can't make spam out there.

Google Product search are a total different platform which enable you to popularize your product through google base, which was earlier known as froogle.

Where as Viral means, which circulates from one group to another. Being listed in google products doesnt ensures the traffic, but is just a medium open to everyone. Viral is more of a adevnturous journey exploring new channels to popularize the websites..

Well, The idea about press release articles and forums are not to do them just to popularize the name, but, to catch attention.

While general article submission can contain crap content however, there is no scope of crap when you are more into viral marketing. infact the job starts right on from the title of the articles.

Everytime you write an article, a thought should keep on crossing your mind: "Will this make others click my article?" ofcourse a general article can be written within 30 minutes, but an article with that motive takes time.

For forums: Its not about forum postings for the sake of signature links and once you achieve your ID goes dead..NO..

Forums are a mean to communicate, infact never let your thread die.. communicate untill there is a conclusion or the community reaches a conclusion..

If gazzahk rights something here, Many read him, why?? he has build his repo by contributing here and gained trust levels. What if, garry was a n00b? Would you still trust him? Scenario would have been a little different..

If he says reciprocal links are dead, you have no other option to believe him in case you are naive..well and then you become a superhero by knowing that fact and try to spread the word around amongst your friends... and gazzahk becomes a hero, a mentor for all those n00bs and gains more respect.. Howzzat??

Now thats what happens in viral.. prioritising things in my opinion is a waste of time..My view is, Do just forum postings, but do that with utter dedication and clarity of thoughts.. Dont follow, Make your own path and let others follow you..

I know a few websites that gained popularity just by posting on a single forum... but the posts were sheer quality.. infact there are certain members who are inactive now but they built a brand by just forum posting..

My advice: Forget priority, Do the same things in a different manner and every orthodox channel will turn out to be a traffic booster..

I can add another case of viral: There was a big brand and a small fresh website..and look how small website created a buzz about itself..

the small website owner tried to act smart and added a backlink of the big brand on his PR-0 page. And then added the story on sites like digg and threw out some press releases with headings such as: "Big Brand Buys a link at PR-0 webpage" creating a suspense all around the SEO industry and then coming into limelight... like it??

Everytime you present an example for viral marketing ... there's some deception and bluff going on in it ... but i have got your concept
