Removing our web pages from google

We have removed alot of pages from our website in the last 2-3 months but have seen that google doesnt seem to be de-indexing.
We are now about to remove alot more pages but are again worried that google is not de-indexing.

I am paranoid about using google webmaster removal incase it removes our domain. Any experiance with webmaster removal?

I wouldn't use 'webmaster removal' myself TBH.

Have you considered putting "noindex" robots meta tags up, and letting googlebot crawl again?

Don't be concerned about de-indexing your domain. You cannot remove a page from Google using that tool without the page or directory being included in your disallow list in the robots.txt file.

So the only way Google would allow you to deindex your domain is having:

    user-agent:*
    disallow: /

    or

    user-agent:googlebot
    disallow: /

A subdomain is a self-contained folder. The root of each should have it's own robots.txt... then you simply follow the same instructions you follow for the domain root.
