    Relevant forum posting??

    Hi Guys,

I know posting in forums and leaving a signature is good but I have one question...

Do the forums have to be relevant?

For example, I have a car leasing site, do I have to post on forums about cars or will other forums such as this one do the same job??

    Thanks

Links from forums signature have zero or very little SEO value but posting in niche related forums can help in building brand for your website. I f you are contributing to the forum and posting intelligent posts then you may get the attention of th community and some links and visitors from them. But dont join any forum just for signature links becoz it is no more than spamming and your link will be removed shortly by the webmaster,,,

posting on the relevant forums might give you some visitors and as gurvinder said it will help you to build your brand as well, but seo wise i dont think forum links will help you much,

On the flip side, if all you do is make useless posts to increase your post count, no one feels compelled to visit the sites in your signature. Additionally, this behavior often raises a red flag to moderators and is likely to result in your signature being removed.

As others have said forum posting isnt good from an SEO point of view but can drive traffic to your site if dont properly.

Thats said and to answer your other question ... think of it this way why would you post links to a site " car leasing " on a football forum ? Or a forum about porn or anything else ! Are these guys going to be interested ?

Yes, the forums need to be relevant. As for the links, I've gotten some great links from forums - both from my signature in posts and my user profile.

Aside from the links, you get the human element on forums. If you're sharing good information and contributing in a meaningful way, other posters will take notice and may be more inclined to visit your site than something they found on Google.

You need to be sharing your information and building traffic in that form. Besides, any link is a good link--from sources such as directory submissions and press releases--that includes the keyword in the anchor text. Donít be too focused on what type of link or its source.

I agree with much of what has been said already. I don't think I would focus on this as my primary source for getting links or traffic though. Perhaps in conjunction with other, better proven techniques (link bait) maybe, but you'll be hard pressed to see marginal results after spending as much time as you'll have to. Your time is better spent elsewhere.

Forums are also great to get ideas of what to write about on your own site. Getting ideas from what people are talking about, questions they are asking, etc. can be great to fuel the mind and get ideas. Visiting forums, contributing and building a name for yourself can pay you back in large dividends. Use certain tools in the correct methods, and you'll be schooling and educating us in no time.

If you post in relevant forums, the chances are high that other bloggers in your niche might be posting in the same forum - and they might visit your site and perhaps give you a natural link from their site.

So forums are a great way to network, and obviously you can do this best in a relevant forum.

To post on forum of yours niche do help as probability of finding your kind of people will be more than in other niche, not only you can help people by giving your experience but can also share from them like I didn't know much about SEO 1 ago but after joining forum based on SEO really helped me a lot it's really exciting to see people taking so much effort in this...So be a part of a forum of your niche and be honest with what you do...rest moderator knows what to do.

Care to elaborate a little more on this? Google counts only relevant what?

As far as I see it, the reason you post in relevant forums is because this is where your target market is hanging out (no surprise here). You want your target market to recognize you and your knowledge in an attempt to lure some visitors to your site. If I sell watches, I would want to visit a watch enthusiast forum, not forums about medical practices.

Still, I would not count on forums as your sole or primary method for building links. Use this in conjunction with a well thought out plan of attack.

    • craigseo agrees : yes elaborate jackson.son google wont be counting forium posts regardless as all are nearly no follow so your getting no seo benefit only traffic so please explain
