Hi..
I'm planning to change my URLs soon on my website. My friend told me to use redirect 101 to retain the rankings. 1) Is it true? 2) Does the old backlinks still useful? Thanks. |

0. There is no such thing as 101 redirect. There is a 301 redirect.
Why is it 301? Read here about the server response codes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_HTTP_status_codes 1. Yes, it is true that a proper 301 redirect helps to retain the strength of a page. A question about 301 redirect is a very common one, so make a quick search all over this forum to find how you can do this yourself. 2. Yep. It would be better to Spend some time choosing a good domain name and planning your directory structure and filename conventions, so you don't find yourself wanting to change filenames or directory names once the site is already set up and you're already ranking well.
