    Recommended Broken Links Checker?

One of my clients would like to include a large number of outbound links to the specification sheets held on the manufacturer's website. There are about 100 products affected, each needing a link to a specific tech sheet.

The manufacturer updates these spec sheets from time to time so we do not want to host copies on our own server for this reason.

When the manufacturer updates the spec sheet they also change the file name - e.g. product-a-spec-dec-2013.pdf - which would obviously cause a broken link at our end.

What I'm looking for is the equivalent of Pingdom but for links. A service that periodically crawls over the site and sends an email with a list of broken links. I don't want to have to go to a website and manually do it, I need something that runs in the background.

Can be free or paid - any recommendations?

Thanks Test-OK but not a WP site.

Even if it was - I believe 'Broken Link Checker' just shows you visually on the screen which links are broken.

I need a service that sends me an email once a week saying "we found the following links didn't work:" and then some list of URLs and the link that didn't work.

Free Broken Link Checker - checks your website for bad links / dead links online
is pretty good as far as it goes.

I'll contact them for a bespoke solution if no one else has any suggestions....

My 'Broken Link Checker' plug-in sends me email with a link to the admin panel where I can fix, delete or whatever as soon as it finds one.
However it makes no difference in your situation.

Have you tried Xenu? This is a good desktop link checker which also provides reports (in pdf). You can always run this tool whenever you want to check your site for broken links.
