Question about "Location:"
We recently had an index.php page that had a bunch of keywords on it, then a link to our main page, home.php.
We copied home.php to index.php so our main content is now our index.php page. But we didn't remove home.php since it's already indexed in multiple search engines. My question is this: If I put the Location: header into home.php so that it will pull up index.php, will that have an adverse affect on the search engines? I really don't care to make changes to two files every time I want to update the home page. Thanks in advance Last edited by cjensen : April 13th, 2004 at 07:57 PM. Reason: Adding subscription |

No, it will be just fine to use a Location: header print - but just doing that gives a 302 - a 301 would be more ideal - although both would work ok.

I used Location: on one of my pages. Google had no problem with that.

MJay -
Enough already. We know you're new, which is great...but PLEASE, you don't need to post this type of message in every thread. Cygnus

I suppose this was inevitable - Mjay has 93 posts as of this writting, and 78 are from today... now maybe he's just eager to be "in the club", and not to spam. But that's still a frigging pile of posts. -Greg
