PR, backlinks, or Content? What works
Late last year we began adding regular content to our site. We are the only one in our industry doing so. We have also added some backlinks but not tons. Since early 2004 our site jumped in rankings. On G we were about 14th for our main keyword phrase, before Florida, got lost for a few months, and since then have made steady but slow progress - up to 6-8.
On Yahoo we are #1 and MSN, either 2 or 3. Can anyone explain this? |

Your continually adding fresh content is helping your site immensely.
Google and the other search engines like fresh content. Regularly updated blogs are a good example of the value of fresh content in action. Your additional backlinks are giving your site some great link popularity as well. If they are from sites that are similarly themed to your site, they are even better. Make sure your incoming links have good anchor link text. That gives them even more bang for the buck. Keep climbing those rankings.

This is what I am starting to do... I am building a special site for this and I believe that it will draw lots of unsolicited links... posting "how to do it" stuff and "how it works"... all of them keyword rich and informative.

Here comes my newbie ignorance. By anchor link text do you mean keyword phrases? Thanks |

If your company was Google, Instead of having a link like this: Google You would want to use key phrases in the link text instead of the name, like this: Search the Internet |
