i need to understand how to analyze any site and what measures should be taken to optimize for "on-page" work....

Doing site analysis first will take you to on-page optimization process followed by off-page opt. You should understand the site well in order to come-up with the optimization ideas that you may implement for a site. Look for the site's important information such as the target market, site niche, etc. so you could think of the possible keywords that the site can use.. then do some KW analysis to pick out the best of them.. then optimization proceeds..

i have searched the topics related but i think my question is not so
close to what i m trying to ask..Basically i need to know about "code optimization" in brief..how to review the code and how to optimize that..

I think you are talking about index pages..coding etc...am I right?

i m simply looking out to find what you people optimize in the code(other than title-meta,header tag, ALT image text, content update, navigation, broken links, XML site map, ) when you do on page Optimization of any site or all these on page techniques are sufficient..

please advice..

I just create a clean layout with no javascript or css on the page but taken from external sources. Then i create the content and internal linking with the user in mind.

Then just keep adding content and focus on getting the external factors i.e. links etc.

On Page is the easy part. its getting the external backlinks from quality websites which is hard. Focus more on that.

Provide a link or source to create a clean layout with no javascript or css.
I have no idea about that practically.. So,it will be helpful for me
..

Well if you are adding java script to a website and it is extremely long you can just put it into another file and call it using this:
<SCRIPT language="JavaScript" SRC="externalfile.js"></SCRIPT>

If you have a large amount of CSS on a page you can include it on your website with the following: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="stylesheet.css" />

And then in terms of the layout its just about creating a template which is easy to look at, easy to navigate and that is able to read well etc.
