Smile PHP files-bit of a newbie question!

I understand that spiders can't read active content, but would this include php files? I am building a new site and it would be easier to include news stories etc. as a php include in the page so as to not have to upload a few times a week. would the spider be able to read these php files? I am not using any databases, just some php to make content management a bit easier. Is PHP even classed as 'active content'?! sorry - probably a silly question but I'm not very technical and stuff like this confuses me easily!

any help thank you so much

PHP files are read perfectly fine whether they are being pulled from a database or not.
