Use 301 redirection, thats the best method for most of the search engines. That will trasfer all SEO factors to new domain.

"Use a 301 Redirect to permanently redirect all pages on your old site to your new site. This tells search engines and users that your site has permanently moved. We recommend that you move and redirect a section or directory first, and then test to make sure that your redirects are working correctly before moving all your content."

yes agree 301 redirect can help you to properly transfer your site to a new domain but please do not expect that you will transfer all traffic or ranking to your new domain also. Yes 301 can help you retain your site without affecting your SEO efforts but please expect that there will be slight difference in terms of your ranking and traffic. But no worries, in term your site will catch up to its original ranking and you will get the same amount of traffic before.

301 redirection is best to pass 90-99% link juice to the new domain. But google may take some time to analyse the changes .You can start with the promotion of new website.

I know this is an old thread, and the OP has not been back.

    I didn't think you can set up a 301 from a sub-domain/domain that you don't own or manage...like blogspot.
