Percentage of business top sites get.

Does anyone know the percentage of business the top sites listed in search engines get compared to everyone else not listed high in SERPs.

I read it somewhere awhile ago but now I can't find it.

Thanks in Advance

WebProNews recently said that in Google 28% click on the #1 position, clicks drop to 12% by position #3 and the rest get 3-12% of the clicks. But that only pertain to clicks. Some users "fix" their searches 3 to 5 times before they are happy with the SERPs they see.

hmmm..... What about the site at #4 who has a price $30 lower in the title tag?

Cygnus agrees: Absolutely. Offering differentiation is vastly important.

That's where the probability game comes into play, and I know you like math EGOL. My own stats show something slightly different than what PK is mentioning, but people need to realize that it isn't a constant figure -- if you can make the ad sexier than the others surrounding it, then your CTR will be higher.

It's one thing to get a ranking, it's an entirely different game getting people to click on your listing...what EGOL is implying here (if I could put words into his mouth), is that you need to have some market analysis and know what differentiation you can offer to someone interested in your product/service that your competitors can't offer.

If you are the only one with rust-proof widgets and your prospective customer wants that, then toot your horn. If you can give the same exact product as everyone else on the first page, but at a discount...let them know about it.

I'm guilty of not doing this enough given the scope of some of the products offered, so I like to be reminded.
