Penalized?
We launched a new site in March 2004, http://www.collegesintheusa.com/. In order to quickly gain some traffic we directed an old URL http://www.eiworldwide.com/ to point to the same site.
I'm wondering if this or some other reason caused the site to be penalized. When searching for "colleges in the usa" in Google it doesn't even show up. Thanks for any help provided! mwilliams |

the answer is yes, for the same reason you did it, is the reason Google doesn't like your site anymore. Quick traffic is the answer for ppc and maybe yahoo/msn...but not for Google

I dont see your website penalized:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=+site:www.collegesintheusa.com+collegesintheusa

So if http://www.eiworldwide.com mapping to http://www.collegesintheusa.com is or might be a penalty, does that mean that other domain mapping could cause penalties?
Here are some examples of other sites we have with two or more domains, could these be getting penalized? masters-degree.com - gradsource.com graduatebusiness.com - gradsource.com distancestudies.ca - distancestudies.com schoolsincanada.ca - campustarter.com canadian-university.com - campusstarter.com Thanks, mwilliams |

It depends on balance, valid links, content etc. whether both url's are validated, only one is, or both are being thrown out
