    Thanks Mike.

    I'm finding https://www.digitalocean.com/communi...n-ubuntu-14-04

but it appears that it needs to be set up by my ISP on the server.

Shouldn't have to. From that link either Option 1 or 2 using your .htaccess. If you don't have one, you can create one.

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Did one a couple of years back, and before that. Of course I didn't know much about what I was doing, and it becomes invisible when uploaded, so... But here's what I had in 2017. I was trying to implement some recommendations from GTMetrix, I think:

    SetOutputFilter DEFLATE
    SetEnvIfNoCase Request_URI \.(?:gif|jpe?g|png)$ \
    no-gzip dont-vary
    SetEnvIfNoCase Request_URI \
    \.(?:exe|t?gz|zip|bz2|sit|rar)$ \
    no-gzip dont-vary
    SetEnvIfNoCase Request_URI \.pdf$ no-gzip dont-vary
    BrowserMatch ^Mozilla/4 gzip-only-text/html
    BrowserMatch ^Mozilla/4\.0[678] no-gzip
    BrowserMatch \bMSIE !no-gzip !gzip-only-text/html

    FileETag none

Then just add the redirect to your current .htaccess file.

Kinda like this? OR does the s have to be added to the http's, to indicate https?

    Code:
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.denverprocessservers.net] [NC]
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://denverprocessservers.ne /$1 [L,R=301]

    SetOutputFilter DEFLATE
    SetEnvIfNoCase Request_URI \.(?:gif|jpe?g|png)$ \
    no-gzip dont-vary
    SetEnvIfNoCase Request_URI \
    \.(?:exe|t?gz|zip|bz2|sit|rar)$ \
    no-gzip dont-vary
    SetEnvIfNoCase Request_URI \.pdf$ no-gzip dont-vary
    BrowserMatch ^Mozilla/4 gzip-only-text/html

All this could have been done with a simple plug-in if you have moved to a word press site and it would have been up in a week. Your wasting your time doing what your doing.

As I've explained, I need to get the site going again, so we can get the money for the redesign. PLUS it's going to take a few weeks for the design, and we need to get some organic visits going, so we can pay the bills during that time.

Just took a quick look at what Wordpress would entail. Looks like there are two forms of it. One where you transfer your domain to their site ( safe to assume fees for that? ) and one that you download, do the work in, then upload to your existing domain. I downloaded that and looked at the instructions, and it appears to generate PHP files, which I don't think my ISP could handle years ago. I'm asking them now.

Yes, there are two versions of WordPress and both a free. You already have a domain, so you need the self-hosting version (WordPress.org). Most hosts already have WordPress installed. If not, install it....it's not hard.

To add, if your current host can't "handle" WordPress, find a new host.

Once you have WordPress installed, use the default theme (TwentyNineteen) or TwentySeventeen to start out. Add your content, find a good security plugin, I use 'iThemes Security', a SEO Plugin, possibly a cache plugin and be done.

I shouldn't bother you guys with this here. I need to find a WP forum for it. But from what it looks like, they want me to install WP on my ISP's server with some kind of database. I thought it was going to be simple and easy...

Then they have paid plans that are apparently for them hosting my domain, instead of my current ISP: https://wordpress.com/create/?curren...RoCcqcQAvD_BwE

So I need to find a forum, this looks pretty complicated.

My bad. I always get the two confused. For self-hosting WordPress you need https://wordpress.org/.

Download WordPress and "they" walk you through it. Takes 5 minutes. I personally download WP to a separate folder (like 'wordpress') but downloading it to your root is okay too.

That was what I downloaded, and it said 5 minute easy install. But I still don't know if my ISP will work with php files, and there's stuff about setting up data bases, etc. Maybe I have something mistaken.

Meanwhile, tonight, I think I finally figured my old site out in Responsive Designer, and it looks decent on desktop and my phone now, and I indexed it. So that gives me some breathing space.

It's been a while since I had to create a new WP site. You will need a database and you should be able to create one in your Control panel in your host. Using php files should be an issue.
