PageRank Phenomena!!

Hello SEO's Bosses

This might be a silly question but is totally confusing me..

What is the association of Google's PageRank to a website? Is it associated to a whole website? or is it individually associted to each single page of a site as it shows different pr value of each page within a site.

If so then those pages within a website who have high PR's are better to be optimized rather than the page which has low pr within the same site..??

basically i have added some new pages in my site and want to optimize them seprately. Do i have to make build popularity for them seprately to higher their pagerank???

what the hell is this page rank!!!!

Thanx a million if you have a justifying reponse !!!

oliman - every separate page has its own page rank value. Sites that have a very good internal linking structure pass PR from their home page to the internal pages as well. But most sites with very high ranking inner pages have Inbound Links to these specific pages, hence they receive PR directly from other sites linking to them.

So PR is passed from page to page WITHIN a site, but if you want to have a high PR value for a particular "inner" page, get links to it from OUTSIDE. I.e. links with the right anchor text, coming from relevant sites etc. etc. you know - all the things that help build your PR.

Finally, you might gain PR on one or more of your pages, but it won't show on the toolbar until the next update. So be patient. Good luck.
