Networking / Groups Opinions

Hi have said hello in one post but again to those who might of missed it !!

Social Networking groups seem to be getting more popular and am wondering what your opinions are re the seo advantages of ;

1, starting a network

2, starting a group on an existing network

This is aimed as one and all as having searched there is little I can find.

Social networking will help if you have a great and quality content. For example you wrote some viral content, your friends can help promote it further. Just like what happen to dIGG and other networking sites.

When your friends promote the story, you can earn natural links to your site or blog which helps SEO.

The group aspect is just a way of getting involved with people who share similar interests, so you can interact with them, and share your content with them, meaning more eyeballs and more links if that is what you are after.
