Question Need Help - Someone is doing blackhat SEO for my website

    Hey Guys

    Need your help..

I have been noticing from last few days that backlinks towards my company website is increasing with a great pace. I thought that since we were doing lot of activities these days so that might be natural links but someone is doing blackhat SEO for my website.

I had a look over the anchor cloud and I was shocked to see that lot of links are coming with irrelevant keywords like viagra purchase, buying viagra in Switzerland, viagra in walgreens, can i buy cialis in dubai, etc.

I know this is done by some competitor of mine. Please suggest me what exactly I should do for not loosing my ranking.

I would disavow the links and the not worry about it..

    But others might say different.

If you start to rank for viagra maybe you should consider selling it

Buddy I am into mobile app industry and our website ranks pretty well for most of the competitive keywords. This website will never rank for viagra for sure, but that might demote my sites ranking.

Disavow was the very first thought that came to my mind when I checked things up, and I will work on that. Since I haven't received any message from google on webmasters so I do not need to ask for reconsideration.

Is there something else that I am missing, or disavow those links is the only thing that I need to do, please guide me. :-)

    Very good point.

You may have had viagra links placed on your site.

Have you checked to make sure your site is not compromised?.

    Ignore them.

If you were attempting to rank for Viagra that could indeed be a problem but if you get demoted for Viagra ranks what harm is that?

Thanks Rod, but is it possible that Google may effect ranking for my industry keywords when I have more links to the site with keywords of irrelevant industry? I simply can't ignore it.

I have checked backlinks to my site and internal pages on webmasters. Since, we were working on webinar past days the attacker have targeted that page. There are lot of dynamic links like /webinar.php?/1024 etc and the incoming links are referring to these URL. What I guess is that some competitor is using a tool that is creating dynamic queries on their server and generating links to it.

Currently I have downloaded the CSV of inbound links and manually marking spammed resources that are referring to my site.

Once i am done with marking resources, I will contact them to remove these links, and if they they won't I will disavow them.

Am I following the right path? If not please guide me.

    Thanks

Better get rid of all those CLICK HERE links then as these are irrelevant too!

Also Website labels, www labels, read more labels, etc.

Come to think of it... natural links are largely irrelevant anchors to your industry & topics ... e.g. check this out might be a really solid link but using your definition of keywords of irrelevant industry you cannot get farther from your topics relevancy.

My point... irrelevant anchors are GREAT!

Completely agree with you, but the person who have done negative SEO was not that knowledgeable in this domain.

He have targeted selling pharmacy keywords which are much easier to detect. I know random keywords are used when we get natural links and they are really helpful but keywords of irrelevant industry like buy viagra are not really helpful :-). That was my point when I stated irrelevant keywords.

Shobhit Saxena the problem here... you are guessing and because you are guessing I don't trust your observations.

    Who hire the Negative SEO?

    Who is the Negative SEO?

If you cannot answer these basic questions - your assumptions are flawed.

It's not a bad idea to do a site: search and look for evidence of your site being hacked. Try doing searches for things like:

    site:yourdomain.com viagra
    site:yourdomain.com cialis

You may find that you've got pages of your site that are hacked.

Alternatively, check to see if the backlinks are pointing towards specific pages on your site that have been hacked. A client I worked with recently had links like this and they were pointing to pages like www.hisdomain.com/buyviagra.

In fact, that is a great idea!

Negative SEO implies someone is attempting to devalue you but the pattern pointed out would only devalue the domain for Viagra or Cialis AND only if the domain get's caught.

The more likely explanation is the culprit is attempting to make the domain more relevant to "their terms Viagra or Cialis" thus making these links more valuable to their cause.

The side effect... You are more likely to get "This site has been compromise" noted in Google results and a drop due to hacking issues than any negative impact caused by a moron that does not understand what PENGUIN focuses on.

    GREAT TIP DR. MARIE!

By the way how to you guys determine which links to disavow? How we know which links has contributed harm to our site? I doubt it is base on irrelevant link only as what fathom said is right:

Hey, i am also facing this kind of problem . When i was analyzing my website in Google webmaster tool then i found many backlinks(3000+) from 1 domain only in "links to me" section. I started SEO of my site before 6 months ago. I also found some keywords in "content keywords" section that are not present in our website content.

Is it ignorable issue or should i do some urgent work?
