New_SEO is right ....
As long as you main goal is GOOGLe and still if you bother about Meta Keywords then i think you are wasting your time .

and Description tag still has some importance as long as Google Snipet is taken into consideration .

Trends havs been changed long before now those days are gone when stuffing keywords can bring you high in SERPs, there numerous no. of ON & OFF page factors that play significant role but Meta Keywords is nowhere...

Google sometimes use the meta description contents to create the description alongside your title and URL in the search results.

Personally I avoid using the meta description tag at all, and rely on the (very good) snippet creation algorithms of the major search engines. Good page structure and well written content makes for a much better chance of having an enticing search results description for far more search terms than the limited 250-odd characters contained within the meta description could ever allow for.

This whole sticky needs to be condensed and rewriiten to actaully be any help. It is pointless at the moment. It is now misleading, outdated and to long. Should be de-stickied IMHO
