Thanks for the tool javascripter, but let me stress that META tags aren't all too important in todays world.

A few years back I used to get highly stressed about them, if the didn't have the right bit-length, keyword density, delimiter, format etc.. Don't do the same, just have a simple, SHORT meta tag and thats it!!

True Darrin, but as this business goes you never know when meta tags will be considered relevant again.

I remember when I first got into this business Altavista was the king for the spidering engines. A year from now we might all be saying google who??

I agree with you regarding Google, in one year I think it's very possible they will be dramatically deflated, I think they are at the peak of the infamous product curve right now..

Meta tags .. they'll never come back for the very same reason they aren't considered at this time .. They can be seriously abused and create false rankings.

If fot example I have a site about books, there's nothing stopping me putting the term "guitars" in my meta tags, this is why they got booted.

Yeah to real life examples .. I bought a book the other day so it's in from of me so I used it for example one, and I was looking around the room for an obvious contradiction, and my guitar was easy to see from where I seat so up it came into the conversation..

Not the most obvious contradictiv terms as there might be guitars about books etc.. But you get the point, with meta tags it's easy to lie!!

he's how i do metas

and please, if i'm doing them incorrectly, please let me know.

at first i pined and pined over the issue. then i found a quick and easy way to get them done. find 5 or so keywords you want to target on that page, use each of those keywords 3 times in the keyword tags in various forms (example: windows,98,2000,win,windows 98,windows 2000,win 98,win 2000), in your decription use them all once or twice (preferably the later if you can still keep it readable) and there you are.

that said, i go the quick-and-easy route cuz, as noted above, they're not very important anymore - but ya never know what the future holds.

any advice anyone can offer to the contrary is appreciated.

cheers,

Hi,

Even if Meta tags are of no importance for search engine rankings anymore, they are still useful when indexing html documents for internal use. Most of the meta tags tools I have seen do only conceder the word count and syntax of the document, it would be nice with a script or program that have some ability to take the semantics into consideration.

I am a newbie here .. anyway .. if the metatags aren't that important .. what is ? page rank and
keyword density ... and how visible is the text in the page ?

What's the use of page rank anyway ... is it gonna improve the SERP ? Is it better to have a decent
low PR and good content instead of high PR ?
