Meta tag for robots - is this "ALL" I need

I am developing a site and wish to get it up and running. I am still wet behind the ear on SEO but want to know if by putting the following: <meta name="robots" content="all" /> in my pages, I will be ok. There is no reason that I can imagine that none of the links can not be followed. Thanks so much. Tom

If you want all your links to be followed then just don't add anything at all ;)

Only, don't forget to create a robots.txt so you don't get lots of 404's.

Hi,

Meta tags were of some importance back in the 90's, but now days the best think to do is to leave them out. Trust me :-)

Not true. How about this?

Code:
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">

This is very important to properlly show your website worldwide! You need to give the charset that you use on your website... And it is a Meta Tag! And how about site description? It's still a Meta Tag and Google, Yahoo, Teoma still gatters it and give importance to it...

Hi.

I am sorry for not beeing clear on the topic.

It could be a good idea to drop the following very common meta tags:
-Keywords
-Description
-Robots
-Abstract
-Author
-Copyright
-Distibution
-Expires
-Language
-Refresh
-Revisit

Since they are all of none (or very limited value).

Useful meta information like content-type should ofcourse be included.

Cannot agree with eliminating the meta description. Some of our highly ranked keywords get results exclusivly thanks to the meta description. Other pages with the same keyword NOT in this meta tag are not ranked anywhere to be found! Thats saying something eh?
