I was recently able to set up our dynamic websites to behave more Google-friendly and get 148,000 news stories that Google had previously ignored into the index. Woo-Hoo. Thanks to everyone who's info helped me through that.

New question, our editors author new stories every day, all day long. How do I help Google come back for the daily news more frequently than monthly? I know that they crawl our homepages near-daily, deep crawl us once a month, but the new content doesn't ever make it in until the next dance.

I found the tag: ), and it was the first time I had ever heard of it. Anyone know if properly placing this tag will help me out? Does Google or anyone else recognize and obey thi tag?

Thank you in advance for any information on this tag or other options you may know of.

Brien - no that tag won't help you with Google, since they follow their own schedule for indexing webpages.

I'm sure your pages will eventually get indexed on a more regular basis - just keep adding that new content and as the pages get more links and/or PR, Google's Freshbot will eventually index them.

It may also help to have them linked to from your frontpage.

Link them from the front-page and you'll see them showing up sooner, depending on the PR of your homepage . what is the PR of the homepage?

Most of the publications' homepages has a PR of 8 with article pages getting a PR6. I will work on a better recent articles listing strategy and see how bady it affects my site performance by rewriting the urls.

This tag never worked for me .. Allthough it would be pretty nice
if it would have worked .. to tell google bot to visit my sites dayly
