to get a high ranking in the search engines follows these tips:
Use Meta tags. The two most important Meta Tags are 'Keyword' and 'Description'. The description Meta tag should describe what is on the particular page, and the keyword Meta tag should include the important key words from the page. Avoid using 'fluff' words and phrases as these will be ignored by the site. optimize your Title tag. When you create a title tag, include keywords and write it to catch the attention of the users be scanning lengthy lists of titles in search engine results. For higher ranking, make sure the title tag matches headline text on the page. And be sure to use a different title tag for each page on your site. (Pages with the same title tag will often be ignored.) Use Keywords in page headlines. Page headlines are important - to your visitor as well as to search engines. Use short keyword phrases, including hot button words and phrases. Avoid 'fluff' and generic words. Craige Last edited by EGOL : November 18th, 2004 at 02:16 AM. If only it were that easy.!!!!!! Good SEO of a website means covering all the bases. A good way to start is get yourself out there. Get "partners" linking into your site, by means of recipricol links, etc. Try to ensure these links are "themed" and therefore in keeping with the content on your site. Also make sure your site content is easily accessible, ie dont put high content pages linked to by obscure links in some backwater page. Make sure the spiders can follow it either by links in your copy of via the site navigation. Secondly, optimise the content of your site. Utilise your keywords in the copy as much as possible without the content becoming clumsy, unreadable and spammy. Use Header tags to highlight important points (ie headers - preferably with keywords). Use this keywords to describe images on your site via alt tags, although keep it the context of the image AND DO NOT OVERUSE. As Craige said do the Meta Tags/Title tags etc. Covering these wont do you anyharm and in smaller engines will play an important part in where you are placed. Above all, look and learn. If you see a site doing well , look at the structure and see what makes them tick Enjoy. If you need any help I or many other users here would be happy to help
