LInks only and seo

I have a website for soccer training. On the main landing pages I have only links to the articles. There is no <p> tags etc. I was wondering if google would doc a page if it only had hyperlinks.
That is not the only thing. I guess I should be clear. It is a normal looking page but it is basically a main page that has a lot of links related to the content of that page. For example, if it is about soccer formations, articles related to that will be on that page.

I appreciate your feedback on this.

It's actually 'football' not 'soccer'

If your homepage is just a list of links, forget the search engines for a minute, what are your visitors going to think? Will they look at it and progress to your real content, or will they just look at a load of links and think it's a spam page? Remember, your first aim should be to build a good site for your visitors.

It's difficult to know without seeing your site, but from your description, I would sugget you need to add in some proper content on the home page.

GraceFan agrees: We should have put some sort of 'terms of use' on the language before we lent it to them - that
would stop this kind of scenario!

robert..while I've no idea where the OP hails from...your answer on the name of the sport is not NA centric, eh!

we call it soccer because we already have football here...hence the diff name to idenitfy a diff sport...

simple, really. not apropos for 'over the pond' folks I know....but ok for us canucks and yankees, eh!

Robertomac agrees: I know all that soccer/football stuff - just provoking a bit of 'trans-atlantic banter'!

If your goal is search engine traffic you may want to revamp your main page if it is only links. However, if it is unusually helpful it may work.. depends on how many back links you get and if you have enough content for the bots to sink their teeth into and categorize your site.

Why not put some content about it on your site or 50-100 word descriptions of each link telling why you think it is worth linking to? Also, you could display helpful YouTube videos too! Sky is the limit. Sometimes the creative thinking will be what gets you all the natural links. As others have said, share a URL for more detailed responses. Good luck!

Let me post my website for you all to see. You will see that it is not as bad as you think. It is laid out nicely. The issue I want to know is when the Search engines come to my site and see a page full links will look poorly or will it count the links as content on that page and give it a good ranking. I appreciate you feedback. By the way, when you go to the homepage you will find that I added extra text under the links. But I would prefer to do it without on certain pages.

I am new so I cannot post links. So do this to find my website: type in google: Youth soccer skills. there you will find my website youthsoccerskills dot com.
