Landing pages not showing in SERPS

Hiya,

I have run into a bit of trouble with the SEO I'm doing.

As part of the on-page optimisation, I've created 2 landing pages for the website: each relating to a different keyphrase. Since I've made these pages and submitted a new sitemap to Google, Yahoo and MSN, the site has been doing much better. I even created a footer for the website which contained those 2 keyphrases on every page of the site.

For those keyphrases, the site wasn't even in the top 100 listings, and now they're ranking on the 2nd-5th page of Google and Yahoo.

What I don't understand is that the landing pages don't show up in the SERPS at all.. it's only other pages on the site that are showing up.

It's just confusing for me because it's the landing pages themselves that contain the keywords in a higher density (around 5%) and they have been spidered by Google.

Please could anyone explain why this is occuring?

Adding the phrases may have made the other pages on your site more relevant so that could explain they're boost in the SERPs. As far as the two landing pages go, without any other information I'd say they're either a) not caching due to coding on the page (e.g. NO INDEX tag) or b) there aren't enough quality (if any at all besides the sitemap) links pointing to the landing pages so the pages themselves aren't being marked as relevant as the other pages by Google. The first option would prevent the pages from appearing at alll while the second would make them rank very low on the SERPs.

Relevency is one of the important factor. i think other pages of your site is more relevent of this keyword than landing page thats why these pages are in serp. so you can make landing page more relevent and see the effect.

Hiya, thanks for your replies,

I think the solution must be to get deep links to the landing pages..

It's just a little bizzare as other sites I've optimised have had no problem in ranking well without deep links. And if anything, the site I'm doing at the moment has less competitiveness with the phrases I'm optimising! Strange...
