keyword density

Hi,

Now I've heard people here talking about keyword density ( 10%, 20%, etc). I dont know much about it.
How do we calculate it? Any tools to calculate it?
How important is it in getting high listings? :

Thanks.

Gaurav.

keyword densit means how many keywords are in your web page

means "india" keyword is 10 time in your page and your doc is 1000 words then you can say your 10% density

Do the spiders look at your tags in addition to content to determine keyword density such as image tags, title tags, etc. I've heard that they do not look at the url when calculation keyword density. Is that true?

Yes, alt tags etc. are counted and must be used in case the image is a link. But don't stuff the keywords in alt tag.

Also, keywords in url do carry some weight but not sure how much. But they (if more than one) must be separated by a hyphen. For example, no use to have a domain named www.jazzmusic.com for the key phrase 'jazz music'. It should be www.jazz-music.com instead.

I like http://www.keyworddensity.com/ as it allows you to compare between 2 URLs. You can then see how your density ranks with your competition.

While trying to find another keyword density analyzer, I tried several of the suggestions listed on this board. I found http://www.ranks.nl/tools/spider.html/ to be the most detailed and easy to read and understand.
