Hi, HTTP redirects are done at the server level not at the browser level so you would let the web server do the job, or use a server side scripting language.

HTML and Javascript are client side languages, these are dependent on your browser.
PHP and ASP are server side langauges. To perform server side functions you need a server side language. They don't assume you can use one, you need one, at least to do a typical 301 Redirect. I don't know of any off hand (other than meta-refresh), but there are HTML and possibly Javascript options to forward/redirect a page somewhere, but they're not the preferred method. |
