Internal Linking: Back to your home page

Quick Question guys, I am developing a new site and in the top left I have a text link with the name of the company. This link is going to serve as your normal link back to the home page. Now should I make it a link to "index.htm" or should I make it a link to http://www.textlink.com? In terms of SEO which will produce the best results?

The name of the company is also included in the company name. IE keyword INC.

My guess would be to use http://www.textlink.com instead of just index.htm.

I presume you're talking this http://www.textlink.com link will be included in the top left corner of all pages. And, thus I am going to suggest that you use the absolute reference (full text link above) as opposed to the relative reference (/index.html). It saves any possible room for confusion. Regardless of where the bot might enter your site, it is clearly pointed directly to the URL of your index page, it does not have to try and sort it out. Likewise in that position it is possible that the link will show in the site's description when reported on the engines, and as such your full address will make a much more lasting impression on any viewers than simply /index.html, because everybody has one of those! You're URL is unique.

follow up

Quick follow up.... so the best way to link back to your index.htm page from you sub pages is:

http://www.website.com/

versus http://www.website.com or /index.htm

Finally on you index.htm page itself should you link back to your own index.html page at all and if so then should you use /index.htm? Or always stick with http://www.website.com/

Thanks,
