Go straight to Aaron Wall and ask for a linkbait idea. He is very good at that. I would not suggest wasting a good $400 on yahoo directory. I have not seen very high value in this. I also don't see much value in Joeant although I have never submitted and have never submitted for a client so just speculating on Joeant.

I suggest instead that you find relevant sites and pay for links if you want to go that route. Make sure they look natural though so Matt doesn't squash you
Or create your own linkbait idea, build your own links either with free directories or whatever and pocket the $1000.

I would take that $1000 and buy 5 hours of Visio's time.

Five hours, not bad. Do'nt buy directories man. If anything, buy some links, but then again, that may not help. But yes, buy some links Do the content generation thing though, wow, that will be worth the cash.

Buy some stickers and flyers with the URL on them and "distribute" them in places where possible visitors hang out. The Underground (=subway) maybe?

Okay, buy 10 hours worth of DJ's time..

Wow, a job board? That's a link goldmine. Been there, trust me...

You seriously couldn't ask for easier links. Google the kw "edu" and contact every single one of the first 1,000 or so results (these will be large universities with "important" sites). Ask for a link from the student services or career services department pages. You will be shocked at your success rate.

Do ten requests a day for three months or so. You will thanks me.

I personally like Yahoo directory, but maybe not with a $1000 total budget.

I still stand by my earlier suggestion tho. You have to do some off-web stuff if you wanna beat the web promo saturation effect. Most of those .edu links should be free anyway, so you'll have some spare money LOL.

I would say definately pay someone for keyword research before you spend any other money on SEO.

If you use your $1000 on targeting an ineffective keyword you are realy throwing away $1000 rather than investing it.

Other than that the link building idea is the way to go and you should be well placed to get lots of .edu links.

I suggest buying KeywordDiscovery. It is a great keyword research tool. I wrote a couple articles on researching keywords. PM me if anyone is interested in reading them. I would post them but it might appear to be advertising.

You can hire someone at digitalpoint to do directory submission for you, if you want to get listed there. I would buy permanent blog posts from that money.
