How to improve your rankings without tricks !!

    Hi all,

(my vision and how i see things)

Improving the rankings on google has a lot to do with links to your website from other (inside the google datebase) websites.

Having many links will improve your ranking above another website
    with the same keywords.

Ofcourse there are many ways of getting many links...trading...but then your own website gets also full...

    FFA....forget it....

    ever thought about guestbooks !!

if you look at google ...query guestbook.htm
you get more then 125.000 results....

in many guestbooks you can also add your URL..they ask for it...

I saw on this great website no postings about this matter...for that reason i give this information here....

Ofcourse its not nice to SPAM those guestbooks with all websites...
just in case you have more then one...but sure this is a way to improve
you rankings for a long time...and if you keep it nice, with a comment
about that website...you wont be removed for sure...

Like to hear also your comment on this...

    regards, hans

Links from another websites are a good way to improve your ranking...
But!!!! you must remmember that what counts is not the number of links you have but the quality of the links!

For example getting a link from a site with PR 2-3
with 100 links on the page doesn't even worth the 2 sec that will take to ftp upload it to your site

When I get or post a link request I always look for the quality of the link
    1. what is the PR of the page where my link will be
    2. how many links does that page has.
3.is the content of that page is relevant to my site.

If I didnt act as mentioned above My site will probebly had 3000 worthless links.....

So before posting new guestbook worthkless links I suggest to "waste" your time on quality links....

    HI,

Yes i agree....the quality of the webite where your link is placed
does matter...and how to check this...

    http://toolbar.google.com

install this one...and you will know which website with a guestbook.htm
has a medium pagerank on google....or even high,....

ofcourse....if you know mr yahoo...and get a link on front there, its nice
but i am talking about the do it yourself webmasters...with less money to spend....and more time left to do it....

    and for sure....having a lot links...in guestbooks...to your website...
on pages from websites with a medium pagerank on google...will
improve your ranking faster then you thought..

    regards, hans

Well you have to be careful with this as Google is believed to or will soon be checking for the terms "guestbook" in on a page and will most likely not pass on PR from those sites. I have to confess I have added a few guestbooks to my site at the very beginning to make sure Google found me but it is certainly not my strategie and I only used guestbooks with pr4+.

There is a myth floating around that google penailizes sites that gain links through guestbooks. It doesnt for the obvious reason that all youd have to do to wipe out competition is add them to dozens of guestbooks. It can get a site picked up but the PR value is limited imo.

    Hi thanks for your reaction...

yes is did check your domain...and found some guestbooks...
shows a bit also your strategy.... :-)

well adding a link to a guestbook is at least fair,
since you have to be there to add it....

and thats als the use of guestbooks.. to add your comments...

    bye, hans

well After your last post I'm sure you have not checked all there is to PR
The benefit you will earn from a site with low/medium Pr who has a lot of links on it , is so low that it doesnt worth the effort....

Absoutely, very little PR is handed over as most guestbook pages have dozens of links per page. Some PR does carry over however. What it does do is aid new web sites to get found and at least indexed.

Here isa site I came across while ago. I call him the guestbook king lol. It is about all he does by the looks of it as the guy has literally over 1800 guestbook entries linking to him (I kid you not).
    http://www.fckaisersaal.de/

This site does have a dmoz link but that's about it as far as "valuable" links are concerned. One dmoz link and a thousand+ guestbook links and you got yourself pr 6 it seems. From a check of backward links you find something quite gob smacking really. Not one link, from what I could see, is not a guestbook entry.

    Either:
    a. This is guy is a complete anorak and spends 9 to 5 hand submitting to guestbooks.
    b. He done got himself a script that somehow automatically adds his site into guestbooks somehow.

What this does illustrate is that with enough guestbook entries you can get to a PR6. I have PR 6 however and have just 4-5 guestbook entries, not 1800 of the things! This actually goes to show the difference in weightings of having a few high quality links compared to having over a thousand low quality links.

    Hi,

I saw a software, guestbook submitter with more then 5000 guestbooks supported !! but it was not for download anymore...

I am also playing with the thoughts if there would be a program that
would support more then 100.000 website...what would happen after one month with the PR of your website...

who knows,,,maybe its there soon... :-)

I think you would be banned for pr manipulation. Google is more hot on that that on page spam (ask SearchKing).

I thought there might be some kind of guestbook entry software. I'll resewarch and see if I can find out more about the software. It might be worth trying on a throwaway domain I suppose. Although no tmore than say 2,000.

Please keep me posted if you come across this software, or how your results are. For the past 5-6 months, there was a site that was listed #2 for "cheap web hosting", and he obtained that spot from minor optimization, and 2,000 guestbook links. After the last update, I don't see his site listed anymore, which could say something, but I'm not quite sure if something else came into play.

I would not try that on my site.....
Getting 2000 links in one month might light a red lamp over google...
try it on one of those useless domains we all have.... ops:

P.S By the way this is called spamming.....

    Hi,

    About the guestbook....

Spamming, means something you get what you did not ask for !!
A guestbook is for remarks and a link (they ask for it in most guestbooks)

So in this way putting your website in many guestbooks cant be spamming because you could have visited them all and left your remarks...

I dont think also you get banned on google for this...but they could give you a lower PR instead... if they would discover it...but would they do it ?

They can't say that you use a sneaky method since that is what guestbooks are for.....to give remarks..they could only filter
out pages with the filename guestbook....doubt if they would..

    another very good tip......

see my profile... (nice picture hehehehe)
    http://profiles.yahoo.com/wm_asia

PR 8/10 on yahoo....at the google bar....
do i have to say more ?

you are allowed to make 1 main and 6 sub profiles with one account..
    take your advantage....no spamming...just fair !!

    regards, hans

I agree with Asher02. You might get away with it for a while, but Google (and other s/e's) will eventually catch up with you and penalize or ban you.

Anything in a web site which Google deems a cause for searchers receiving less than accurate search results is penalized sooner or later.

Fact is that as much as we want to cry cheat, spam etc. gaining PageRank and ranking due to anchor text in guestbooks is a method that works to an extent. Google are in a bit of a bind here. They can only penalize by manually reviewing sites, otherwise there are going to be a lot of people entering competition pages in guestbooks. One mans spam is anothers optimization don't forget Asher :-) Although i agree in the eyes of where it couints (Google) mass guestbook submission is a manipulation of their PR algorithm and would be banned.
I will be trying it on a throwaway but will not do 2000 entries on the first month. I'll probably break it down to monthly groups of 2-300 or so. I got to find the automatic guestbook script first mind. I have a couple of throwaways to try it on.

I removed the guestbook from my website because of people doing this. It might not fit the definition of spam, but it's rude none the less.
