How to develop a seo plan?
Hi everyone,
Im new to SEO and ive got the impression it takes a lot of looking at ranks and numbers and results, and experimenting, so its gotta be planned very well.
Its the first time ive actually been given the job of marketing and seo for a new blog, i volunteered so i could learn but it seems overwhelming now
it currently has no posts, but im working on some content. i have a good idea of quite a few things now i need to focus on to do a good job as an SEO.
but i have no idea where to start. or how to organise my seo tasks
how do you seo people plan to SEO a new project and monitor it?
there is so much stuff out there to look at - what statistics are essential for you guys to look at in order to do a good job?
thanks for the help

There are many ways in SEO to promote websites on search engines, one is Off page SEO and the other is On page SEO. You can use Off page SEO tasks like directory submission, article submission, profile submission, forum posting, blog commenting and social bookmarking to promote websites on search engines.

HelloZhang!
I would like to share my own experience on SEO. Directory submission, article submission, etc as above is a usual practice and everybody starts from it. I've done it all and can say that there are just few directories like DEMOZ, Yahoo (paid), some others submission to which can give you results. Never use automatic software that promises to submit your site to thousands directories for the low cost, it won't give you anything. Article submission - yes but try to submit to trusted sites like Ezinearticles.com but it is very difficult to get there. Even better to write press releases and submit them to press release directories, my favourite that gave some traffic are Prlog.org, Free-press-release.com, i-newswire.com
But what is the most important that helps a lot is the monitoring of your competitors. Find all websites that do the same as you do and look at their pagerank, at their activity, do they have social pages on Facebook, twitter? what do they write there? what features their sites have (live chat, interesting design, useful contact us form, etc)? You can download SEO PowerSuite software to see the backlinks to their sites (it can give you a tip where to leave the links to your site).
Tryto do your site better than your competitors have and you'll taketheir part of traffic.
Kind regards!

Competitive analysis is one such step you should take in the very beginning of your SEO efforts. It should be right at the top of your to-do list, along with keyword analysis and tagging your web site. In fact, you should probably do a competitive analysis even before you begin tagging your site. Get a list of 3 of your major competitors and note the following points:

There are two main tasks of seo, one is onpage seo and second is off-page seo. Firstly do onpage seo with attractive and less traffic keywords. Then start offpage tasks with directory submissions, social bookmarking, forum posting, blog commenting, article submissions, etc...

SEO is very vast and you should think a lot before implementing it.
Always research and develop a strategy to get your business on top.
ON-Page - OFF-Page Optimization
Before starting any offpage activity you should complete all your ON page stuff clearly.
