How Can This Be?

Hello All,

So Ive been researching some results and this came to my attention.

If you type in any of the following into Google:

Orlando Real Estate
Cleveland Real Estate
Toronto Real Estate

The following website shows up in the top 5 listings for all those queries: http://www.epoweredprofessionals.com

My question is if you look at the description Google displays, it always seems to contain the keywords you entered into Google for the search.

How is this possible?
How can this guy be ranked so HIGH for all these terms when none of the keyword, etc appear on his webpage or in his tags?

Is this guy doing some form of cloaking or something?
Baffles me how no matter what term u enter, the description displayed by Google always seems to contain the keywords you entered in.

Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The word 'real estate' is embedded all throughout the site and the geo-targeting of the keyword itself expands the links (link polpularity and keyword popularity) exponentially. Part of Google's algorithm for the organic search results is keyword relevance and link popularity...this has a lot of both.

Also, the first word in the html title is Real Estate (the keyword once again) giving it relevance to the Google Search term.

I am new at this myself, so if anyone wants to correct me, feel free!

HEY DONNA..

Good to see yah!
;-)

So just having those links at the bottom helps that much? It seems amazing to me that just by doing that this guy can be top for EVERY real estate keyword. Its incredible to me.

I am sorta understanding now-but what im still confused about is the fact that the desription that Google displays for the results, is knowhere to be found on the site:

Any ideas?

Apparently since this is an organic search he either submitted his site and for the description he wrote the copy that you see in every real estate search. Otherwise the site was crawled and picked up and the description comes from the site itself. I would guess the first option, but not entirely sure.

But if your main question now is where did the description come from, it could be his own submitted description for the site.

Well, no, its not just those links that are doing it, i'm sure, but i was basically referring to the statement that the keywords don't appear on the site... and they do. he probably also has a lot of good incoming links from "authority" sites (just guessing here - didn't do the research), and possibly a lot of them have those keywords as the anchor text. And then there's always the "who knows why google does what it does?" factor.

These are some good tips for good SEO to help compete with this Real Estate hog! I found these in this forum...

Optional but very important:

A - Own your-domain-name-dot-com
B - Host your site on a reliable server

1 - Shorten the title to 55 chars
2 - Add the robots tag
3 - Place the robots.txt in your root on your server
4 - Get rid of the js in the code and put it in an external file
5 - Use css instead of color, size and font tags
5 - Change the link buttons or js links in to text links
6 - Make sure to have a site map page
7 - Make sure you have 404 page
8 - At the bottom of each page use menus as text links
9 - Make sure your page code is not bigger than 100 K
10 - Submit your site to ODP and Yahoo Dir, make sure to select the right cat
11 - Pay special attention to your content
12 - Try to get as much as relevant links you can
13 - Read each search engines guide lines and follow them strictly
14 - Don't spam
15 - Don't use doorway pages
16 - Don't cloak
17 - Always come and ask for advice on this board
18 - And pray hard that the big G appreciates all your efforts

This will help as long as you follow each rule here

* use wordtracker.com to research the proper keywords for your site.

* include your keywords in the alt tags of images.

* use the H1 tag for page headings (you can alter the way h1 displays text with CSS. . .).

* submit to gimpsy.com and goguides.org (these are free directories)
* include your keywords in the alt tags of images

Hope this helps a bit!
