    You mean: for ANY (i.e. non-specific) keyword?

    Go to your Google webmaster tools account and look at your keyword rankings.

    Frankly, I wonder who Frank is and why he has his own adverb.

    I have found that this doesn't always completely depersonalize my results. Sometimes I need to log out and also add &pws=0 to the end of the url. This usually works.

    However, I have one site that I optimized for someone who is in Kentucky. If I am logged out and cookies cleared and do &pws=0 I see the site at #2. However, if someone in another state does the same the site is at #6. Location plays a factor as well.

    That makes perfect sense. But I dunno if the O.P. wants to go into full local mode and check the results from hundreds of locations

    Personally, I would always keep a "clean" browser ready and a couple of useful proxies. I don't trust "ranking checkers" - they could be hosted in Manila or Mumbay or something... i.e.: useless.

    Type your specific keyword in Google and check manually page by page, that where your website is standing in Google.

    Interesting...just tried this out and I am getting wildly different results from what I would get with a search logged out of Google and &pws=0. Now I wonder who is right?

    If your using straight up google and searching keywords to see where your site is ranking, you may see it come in 1st, 2nd, or maybe 3rd..then you say hot damn I'm doing great when in reality your the only one seeing it in that position, no body else is...hence the reason for using the different techniques. You want to see what the rest of the world is seeing. So using straight up Google isn't a good option.

    I can't seem to see where I can set my location now. I'm trying to check a keyword for a local business in Lexington KY to see what people in their city are seeing. It used to be an option on the left sidebar but that option is gone now for me.

    <snip>

    We have some add-ons to find keyword positions. I am using "Google Global 2.8" this is very useful for me. We have to set a extension in that then we search keyword positions. What ever it may be manual search is my first prefer.

    There are many tools you can use to check your keyword ranking just like seo tracker and market samurai. However I recommend you to do it manually just key in your keyword in Google search then find it manually page by page if you reach up to 5th page of search engine then your SEO effort still need a push.
