Home Page Search Results for Company Name Search
Why is it that the homepage title tags appear differently in the serps for company name searches? I'm using Wordpress and am interested in knowing if it's an SEO trick, or just how Google chooses to retrieve company name searches.
Examples:
Search Term "Thompson Creek"
Google Serps Result:
Thompson Creek Window Company
thompsoncreek.com
Thompson Creek designs and manufactures replacement windows, doors, gutters and siding locally. We make it, we install it, we stand behind it for life.
Homepage title tag after clicking on link: "Vinyl Replacement Windows, Gutters, Doors & Siding | Thompson Creek"

Google changes the title and description it uses to better match the searcher based on the search term, the search history of the searcher and the content on the page.
This is pretty common nowadays.
