Home page query
Greeting's people...
After using this great forum for the past year, one of my sites is now appearing in yahoo.co.uk (pos 5) for a quite competative keyphrase. Which I'm very happy with, thanks to all the great posters here! However. it's appearing as (mysite .com/)index.html In the internal link structure for my site I use / for the home page, and my link building is to the main domain (mysite .com So I'm just wondering why they got the index.html instead of (mysite.com) My main worry is that the search engines are treating them as 2 different pages and thus losing some ranking Juice? Any Ideas? |

Congratulations for the job well done. You can canonicalize your homepage by doing 301 redirects from the index.html to your directory. Although I am not certain if Yahoo can follow this, but Google does.

recheck with the following check list mentioned for any index.html link is placed,
1. sitemap.xml (google sitemap) 2. urllist.txt (yahoo sitemap) 3. sitemap.html (user sitemap) 4. Header and Footer links If all the above are correct, then wait till yahoo removes the index.html link and reindex for www.mysite.com |
