HELP: traffic rankings
Our data ase sees 100,000 hits.
Traffic ranking web sites show only 1000 hits on our site. What is wrong? |

Do you mean sites like Compete and Alexa? They're really not all that accurate, and there isn't much you can do about it. Compete also only tracks U.S. traffic. |

Alexa tracks the sites visited by people who have the Alexa Toolbar (Sparky) installed, and extrapolates from there to come up with overall traffic rankings. If your visitors are less likely, on average, to have Alexa installed, then it'll be way off.
Compete combines a number of techniques, I think they have some badges you can put on your site, a toolbar, and I think they also get information from major ISPs. Either way, you're the only one who can ever know the accurate number of visitors you're getting. The best anyone else can do is guess. |

The question is, how accurate these traffic ranking sites and your database.. check it with other popular sites for comparison.
