hi All
i'm syrian student studying to have diploma ,well my project is search engine optimization,so i start from the scratch looking for general information about search engines ,types of search engines and how it works .......................
then i have to build that search engine depending on that information then i have to make my search engine is optimized using AI rules and in the last stage i will try to develope it for arabic languages.
the problem is that i'm now in the first stage and i don't have the complete information about search engines (how it works,algorithms ,types...) ,so could you help please to give me refernces and information about that.

To be honest if we all new the algorythms the search engines used and how they compile they rankings we would all have #1 rankings and be MILLIONAIRES.

Your best bet is to search for the informaton you are looking for on the various search engines.

The two main types of engines are Algo based and Meta based. In a nutshell:

Algo based uses multiple mathmatical calculations that set a value to a site and/or page depending on factors such as content, popularity, links, theme and others.

Meta based look for content and Meta tags and rank pages on how revelavent a page is to a specific word not counting popularity and theme.

There ar many more factors but thats the basics.
