I've read somewhere on Search Engine Land that Google updates their algorithm 600+ times a year and it has been increased over the last 2 years since the first Panda update.

And i believe they would keep updating their Algorithm using us as their mechanical turfs ( Re-inclusion requests, Disvow tool etc ). If we stop focusing on what Google loves and try Social media, Video marketing or PR and community building we don't have to rely on traffic that we get from organic results i believe.

There is no certain way to safe our website due to day to day Google updates.From the beginning, we have to optimize our website with an organic way;don't attempt to achieve link building and other direct promotional work,try to do more indirect activity. Always I follow search Engine Land, seomoz.org etc. top ranking google updates resources.

PR update take 4-5 months time while other i can't say.

There is no specific time for Google to update its algorithm. Google can surprise everyone at any time.
