    Question Google plagiarism penalty?

    Hi All,

I'm the webmaster for a small community service organization. We're overseen
by a larger organization that has their own website separate from ours. The boss of our
small group wants to repost a blog post from our larger parent organization. I told the
boss that would be risky cuz google could detect it as plagiarism and penalize our
website. We could easily get permission to repost the article but I'm still worried about
google slamming us with a plagiarism penalty.

If I include this text "This article reposted
with permission from __" will google see it clearly and not give us any penalty? Or could we
still get hit with a google plagiarism penalty even with the disclaimer text?

We've worked hard to get good rankings and I'm very nervous about anything that
    could damage our good SEO.

    Your feedback most appreciated. Thanks!

(grrr, no text wrap... :-) )

You will be fine. Do not worry about it in this particular case.

The penalty you are referring to concerns how Google tracks and keeps a tally of DMCA notices. There is a difference between reposting and piracy.

You can use rel=canonical tag for that post it will tell Google that it's not plagiarized content and you can post that blog on your website without any harm

If you mention clearly you have taken it from this large section blog then Google does not give a penalty. It is the example of link biting. Do not worry about getting penalty.

Great! I had forgotten about the rel=canonical. Thanks for the reminder. I'll research it and it looks like
it will do the trick. Thanks again.

[[I'm always amazed that the users of this forum seem to happily tolerate that there's no automatic
    text wrapping. Strange...]]

Actually the text wrap works, but you have to maximize your screen and it wraps fine 99% of the time.

Hmmm... My Chrome browser screen is always maximized. Must be some weird glitch in my system.
    Thanks,
