Google Not Reading Back Links

Hi Everyone,
I would love some expert advice on this. I have several sites that have at least 10 incoming links from other sites. However, Google is not reading that there are any back links at all. One of our sites is as follows: www.seamless-gutters.com. This site was not created using a template so I fear that may be the problem. I would like to get this solved before I begin a link building campaign for this site. This site has been indexed by Google. Any thoughts?

Are the backlinks on pages with a PR4 or higher? link:yourdomain.com only shows results of PR4 or greater pages.

Are the links new? Google may not have spidered the new info.

Why do you think a template has anything to do with SE rankings?

I would begin the linkbuilding campaign now. It will not hurt to get more links sooner, rather than later.

Diana

I read in the Google report that it is important to have a site map listed within your site in order for Google to read your internal links. Since this site was not built using a template, it does not have a site map.

The majority of the sites that we have linking to this site are a PR 4 or 5. I am leary to begin a link campaign because most webmasters I know would not consider linking with a site that has a PRO which our site has right now.

So build a site map. It's not that hard. Really!!!

If you want, download Xenu and it will generate a site map, which you can then pretty up, to look like your site.

All a site map is, is an HTML page listing all the other pages within your site. I don't use templates (well at least not purchased templates, I use DW) and use Xenu, to check links (great for finding that elusive link generating a 404!) and generate the map html.

Newer sites often have a PR0 for a while. If the sites linking to you are PR4/5 as you say, then give google a while to freshly spider those pages and thus the links to your site. When were they linked up?

The website was submitted to Google in Mid July. The links we also linked to that site at the same time. Two months later and nothing. It makes me think that there is something technically wrong with the website, www.seamless-gutters.com.

Google is no longer showing all backlinks w/PR 4 and 5. Currently they seem to be showing a sample of backlinks. They are slow to udate Page Rank. This is changing things. Check Marketleap which summarizes backlinks shown for 4 or 5 Search engines. This is more representative for what is showing up.

Please check out the forum before posting such a question.

It has been said many times on here:

Google doesn't list all backlinks

Diana,

This is no longer true. Google is taking some type of random sample (I do not know if its a statistically sound sample) of a page's backlinks.

PR4 or higher is simply not true.

Plus the links Google reports in the link command is not all the links Google has in its link index for a page. Again, its a sample of your links.

For a more complete link count, use the link command at Yahoo. If you want all the links to a site use link:www.domain.com. If you want only the links to a particular page on a site use link:http://www.domain.com/page.html.
