It would be company suicide. They're pushing G+ to Google Apps, gmail, YouTube, Blogger, etc.

I'm sure it's going to be needed for Google Fiber.

It's their tab on our wants/needs and to force feed us bull**** advertising. They'd be insane to 'shut it down'; perhaps, rebrand it. But shut down, no way in hell.

No, they are not shutting down G+, it is now a big part of their social strategy!

Never say never, not in this game.
Over the many years I have been involved in this industry I have seen many shock horror shut downs and your left wondering why? as it made no commercial sense.
However in saying that I do feel google+ is now in the DNA of most Google products that it has gone too far to now be pulled. G+ is now such an integral part of what Google is about that I think you have only just seen the tip of it so far.

No, I haven't heard any news related to this. I think Google+ is giving competition to FB. Google is trying to cover social network so it will give shock to me if it is really a news.

I think that this is just a rumour. Google+ is gaining large popularity and it is very doubtful that the almighty G will shut down such promising social project.
