Good technique? or blacklist tactic?

Just curious about getting multiple domain names that all point to the same site. Is this an acceptable practice?

What about setting up different IP's for each domain name and having them auto-redirect to the same page? What if they don't auto-redirect, but all they contain is a link to your desired page?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Send a message via MSN to Jessica
It probably won't give you much advantage but It won't hurt you either.

We point a number of country varient domain sites to the same domain and never had any problems.

How about setting up other sites and having them auto-redirect to the main site? I thought I remembered seeing once that this was not a good thing to do.

Thanks

As with all good SEO practices this use to be acceptable and many were doing it a few years back. As with any good thing it has changed ...

Do the 301 redirect because pointing them all at the same IP could get you flagged for duplicate content on the SEs.
