    Getting Rid of Excessive Key Words

    Hello,

    I am using a SEO tool to help place my site on search engines and it is warning me that I am using "excessive key words." The word is "clear" that it is warning me about. It appears 44 times on the page, but not in text. "clear" is the name I gave to my spacer image. So, it appears as:

    <img src="images/clear.gif" width="1" height="5">

    I tried renaming it, thinking it just didn't like the word "clear," but that did not work. Any tips on how I can get around this, or should I just ignore it as a bug in the SEO tool?

    Thanks in advance.

    Don't use spacer images. It's unprofessional, there are other ways to work around it (CSS) and it hurts your SEO efforts.

    Not sure "unprofessional" is an appropriate term here....possibly "old-school," but that is beside the point. CSS are an alternative, but my time is limited and this would be a big re-work. I use CSS for everything new. Do you know how to resolve this issue?

    I dont think it will hurt your rankings. So dont be confused about it!

    Concentrate on getting more backlinks at a moderate rate!

    I'm going to consider eliminating some of my spacer images. How would you rewrite this snippet of code?

    <tr>
    <td class="bgheaderblue" colspan="4"><img src="images/header_mystery.gif" border="0" WIDTH="115" HEIGHT="25" alt="text"><br></td>
    <td class="bglineblue"><img src="/images/clear.gif" alt="" width="1" height="1" border="0"><br></td>
    <td class="bgheaderblue" colspan="4"><img src="images/header_bestlook.gif" border="0" WIDTH="146" HEIGHT="25" alt="text"><br></td>
    <td class="bglineblue"><img src="/images/clear.gif" alt="" width="1" height="1" border="0"><br></td>
    <td class="bgheaderblue" colspan="4"><img src="images/header_trivia.gif" border="0" WIDTH="108" HEIGHT="25" alt="text"><br></td>
    </tr>
