FFA's

I know this has been mentioned countless times before here, but....... For new sites whereby you want to get maximum exposure as quickly as possible with a limited budget i.e no PPC, should FFA sites still be avoided like the plague? Do they actually have an adverse effect on how page rank is calculated and could they really get your site banned from google by way of association?

Thanks

Daav

From what I've heard (haven't tried them myself), the links will simply vanish too soon to be seen on most FFA boards, and you'll be opening yourself up to spam. If a board claims 1000s of visitors a day, probably most are from submission software, very few people, and most people will only be looking to submit their link. If the page keeps only 100 links at a time (I do not know the normal figure for this), your link may only be available for a very short time, but you'll get tons of emails because you have to give an email address. Get a free email account if you want to do this; don't use your real one.

As for getting you banned... well, you aren't linking to them, so not much risk there, especially since your link may not be there long at all.
