    Duplicate Content

Hi. Was just wondering. Is it alright to have the same content on two different pages within my site?

This is one of the basic rules: a website must have unique content - for each site.

When you have two different pages:

    1. Those pages must have two different themes and by using same content in both you are neglecting one theme.

    2. If the theme of the pages are same, then you should not have two different pages.

If you are targeting different keywords, then the content should also be unique in order to match the context.

The keywords must be different enough to justify the two pages. If it is only two pages on your site like this, it is probably not gonna harm your site definitely, but you can't control which page will show up for which keyword if they are too similar. So why bother?

Well, if your keywords are different for two pages then content also be different but you need to make it more page and keyword specific because just changing keyword is not enough, you must rewrite your content accordingly new keywords or take help from any professional content writer. Content should be unique approx 80%-90 % .

Search engines don't like copy content. If you don't care about search engine ranking than you can go for it.

    Duplicate Content

As for article directories, don't waste your time submitting the same article to 100, 200, or 1,000 directories. Submit the article to one reputable article directory, such as Ezine-Artilcles, Buzzle, or GoArticles.

According to Google, "Duplicate content generally refers to substantive blocks of content within or across domains that either completely match other content or are appreciably similar."

At the risk of drawing heat from other members, I'll give you my experience.

I have duplicate content quite a bit on my sites, one page within my store may be exactly the same as a page outside of it. I do this to maintain consistency throughout the checkout process.

This is not a problem, provided I am happy for only one page to be served up in Search Engine Results. One will be seen as the original and the other will be disregarded, or put into the supplimental index.

So if you want both pages to appear in the Search Engines, then yes they need to be different. 15% is usually enough I find.

    Hope this helps,

    Regards
    Luke
